Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question? You’re not alone.

Here are some of the most common questions we get about appointments, care, and what to expect.

If you’re unsure about anything, feel free to get in touch. We’re always happy to help.

Booking/New Patient

If you’re new to the clinic, we recommend booking a first session.

This allows us to understand what’s been going on, assess how you’re moving, and guide you through the next steps.

If you’re unsure, start here and we’ll take it from there.

This is typically your second visit, where we go through your assessment results and discuss your care options in more detail.

This may include movement findings, along with any imaging or other results where relevant.

We’ll guide you on when to book this if it’s appropriate for you.

Appointments

Appointment times vary depending on what you need.

• First session: 60 minutes

• Standard session: 20 minutes

• Long session: 40 minutes

We’ll guide you on what’s most appropriate for you.

Your first session includes a discussion about what’s been going on, an assessment of how you’re moving, and a clear explanation of what we find.

From there, we’ll talk through the next steps.

Where appropriate, care may begin, or we may recommend further assessment, imaging, or referral.

Not always.

Most people don’t need imaging to get started. Your first session focuses on understanding what’s going on and assessing how you’re moving.

If you have previous imaging, you’re welcome to bring it along. We’ll review it if it’s relevant.

Where appropriate, we may recommend further imaging, but only if it’s clinically indicated.

Wear something comfortable that allows you to move easily.

Depending on what we’re assessing, we may look at how different parts of your body move, so clothing that allows access to the area (e.g. shoulders, hips, or legs) can be helpful.

If you’re coming from work, that’s completely fine, we’ll work around it where we can.

Not always.

Your first session focuses on understanding what’s going on. Where appropriate, care may begin, or we may recommend further assessment before starting treatment.

This depends on your individual presentation, goals, and how your body responds.

We’ll discuss this with you after your assessment so you have a clear understanding of your options.

Care and Approach

Chiropractic care is generally considered low risk when provided by a registered practitioner.

As with any healthcare, responses can vary, and we’ll always discuss what’s appropriate for you before starting care.

No referral is required to see a chiropractor.

However, referrals may be used in some cases for Medicare, WorkCover, DVA or other care pathways.

No.

Care is always tailored to the individual.

What’s appropriate depends on your presentation, goals, and how your body responds.

An adjustment is a hands-on technique used to help improve movement in a joint.

It can be adapted to suit your comfort level and is only used where appropriate, with your consent.

Not all care involves adjustments. We’ll guide you on what’s most suitable for you.

Most people find adjustments comfortable.

Some techniques are quick, while others are more gentle. We’ll always tailor this to your comfort level and discuss options with you.

Soft tissue therapy involves hands-on techniques applied to muscles and surrounding tissues.

It may be used where appropriate to support movement, reduce tension, and help the area tolerate load more comfortably.

A range of techniques can be used, and these are always adapted to your comfort level and what’s most suitable for you.

Dry needling may be used where appropriate to help manage muscle tension and sensitivity.

It involves using fine needles applied to specific areas within the muscle.

It’s often used alongside other care to support movement and help you stay active.

Cupping involves using suction cups applied to the skin to create a lifting effect on the underlying tissues.

It may be used where appropriate to support movement and help manage muscle tension.

Cupping is typically used alongside other care, depending on what’s most suitable for you.

This is different for each individual and the condition of their skin. Anywhere from five days to two weeks.

IASTM stands for Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation.

It involves using specialised tools applied to the skin to work with muscles and surrounding tissues.

It may be used where appropriate to support movement and help manage muscle tension, and is often used alongside other care.

Taping may be used where appropriate to support movement and provide feedback to the area.

This can include rigid taping or kinesiology taping, depending on your presentation.

It’s often used alongside other care to support comfort, manage load, and assist with activity or training.

In many cases, yes.

We may guide you on how to modify your training depending on your situation, so you can stay active where appropriate.

Costs and Policies

Yes. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a fee.

This helps us run on time and ensure appointments are available for others who need them.

We understand that unexpected situations happen, so please reach out if something comes up.

Yes. If you have private health cover, you may be able to claim a rebate depending on your policy.

As we don’t offer on-the-spot claiming, you’ll need to submit the claim through your health fund.

We can provide everything you need for this.
